I have changed the head gasket but the sweet smell of bubble bath and the burning smell have not left. It is happening more with the heat on and it comes and goes. The smell is on the passengers side. I also have seen steaming white smoke when it has rained. No idea if that is connected. Car was just inspected and other than the brake fluid leak that I just found out about the jeep was ok. Help. any idea why I smell bubble bath and why there is a burning smell. The jeep has 160 k miles. I checked the Jeep after turning it off. We had noticed that the oil was going nutty and we pulled over and added some. There has been this constant "weird " smell. It is on the passengers side and it smells like bubble bath. It also smell a bit like burning. I have recentally changed the head gasket but the smell just never completely vanished.I will have the transmission fluid changed and the filter also. I also have found out that the back brakes need replaceing and the jeep is slowly leaking brake fluid yet when had it checked again the other place never did find this issue. It was mienki that did but my local garage didn't. So what else should I change in the jeep?

The smell is antifeeze and its coming from your heater core. Is there any wetness on the passenger side floor as well? If so its probably plugged because of some kind of additive people put in to stop the head gasket problem you had prior to this problem. You will have to first have someone try to flush the coolant system thorougly (shouldve been done with the head job) and pray that that cures the plugged heater core though not likely or you will probably have to do the inevitable and change your heater core and get new heater hoses as well. You can try to get warranty work by blaming whoever added the head gasket stop leak to your radiator and plugged the heater core but unless you know who did that good luck at getting an admission. Its not a bad job but most garages like to charge lots for the job because they have to take the dash apart and it just sounds hard but isnt really. Anything else i can do to help or answer anything else you let me know and ill be glad to help, and good luck. Also if you dont want the extra heartache im looking for a high mile 99 and up Jeep GC that needs some work to make a big mudding truck out of ...just throwing it out there.
