Question: Jeep 31x10.5 tires rubbing any suggestions?
(Posted by: FireByson on 2010-02-07 12:48:15)
I recently purchased 31x10.5 tires and i put them on my stock 1998 Jeep Wrangler they work great until i want to make a sharp turn and then i can hear them rubbing on something does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this issue without a lift, thanks for any answers. I will probably end up getting wheel spacers does anyone know what kind to look for also does anyone know about those spacers that fit in the spring pockets, will those help anything. |

I would use a spring spacer kit like a BDS 3/ 4 inch spacer kit,you can get them fairly cheap and install them yourself in less then a day if you have the proper tools and equipment. If you don't want to try the install it would cost around $300 to have someone else do it.I wouldn't use a wheel spacer, myself I don't think they are safe. |

You can check on some wheel spacers. Just make sure they are well made and installed correctly. I realize you don't want a lift, but if the tire is rubbing against the body, a body lift of one to two inches isn't very expensive and is fairly easy to install by yourself. |

That's strange, I have 31x10.5's on my stock '98 Wrangler and haven't had any rubbing issues at all. Maybe the tread on your tires is really tall? Mine are BF Goodrich A/ T KO's.. anyways it's probably not enough to do any damage. Most likely it's just the very tip of the corner of the tread making contact with the frame. If that's the case it should wear down pretty quick. |
