The noise your hearing and im 100 percent sure of this is a bearing at one of your items along the serpentine belt and if you dont fix it youll have to replace the belt again. It will be either your alternator, power steering, water pump,AC pump. My bet is on the alternator cause these are poorly made bearing and what happens is over time the bearing stops spinning freely and binds and then the belt rubs across the non moving part and you hear a high pitched squeal like what your hearing. Go under the hood and you can take a yardstick with you and put it to the back (on the casing) of all the items that are on the serpentine belt system then cup the end of the yardstick to your ear and the bad bearing will cause a vibration to go from the stick to your ear and youll know which one it is when you find it it will be loud and its a crude method but it works. Be sure to keep the stick out of the way of the fan or anything it can get caught in so put it on the back housing of each item and youll for sure hear it. Like i said before change it quick cause it will burn up the belt soon and they are like 30 plus bux anymore. You dont need to take this to a dealer to fix either . If you want step by step instr. after you locate the bad bearing email me and i will gladly coach you thru this and save you a bunch of money in the process |
