Its common knowledge that the 2.5L is a 4.0 with just the 2 center cylinders removed im taking out my 2.5 since im dropping the rest of the drivetrain anyways no im not going to swap in a 4.0, i had originally planned on dropping my chevy 350 but have decided i want to keep the 2.5 im gonna rebuild it and i want to see just what i can get out of it since no one else tries if anyone has any information on a stroker kit for the 2.5 or adapting parts from a 4.0 please let me know. i must clarify, im tech Savvy and pretty well informed, i am set on using my 2.5 and am looking for means other than the simple air intake, exhaust, 4.0L throttle body and the electric fan conversions and such, these will be done anyways, but i plan on either supercharging or turbocharging this engine, but first i would like to look into whats possible with a little boring and polishing i have simply grown tired of endlessly searching forums and website, now lets see what yahoo answers has to offer

The problem with stroking a motor is that you need another similar motor's parts to use to stroke it. a 4.0 liter (242 ci) motor is stroked by using the crankshaft from a 4.2 liter (258 ci) and taking advantage of the shorter throw to achieve a 4.6 liter (282ci) displacement motor. a chevy 350 into a 383 by using the crank from a 400. So, my question is........what crankshaft will you use? But, I suppose that that's your question too. I don't believe that there is a an other usable crank. If you turbo charge that baby, and focus on type of piston, etc..........you'll get more HP. But.....you'll need a beefier tranny. Personally, I believe that you are not looking at the problem from the correct POV. Do you want to make your Jeep go fast? If so, why?

I'm pretty sure I've seen 2.5's bored out to 2.7. I'm sorry I don't know where I saw that, and I can't back it up. I had a 2.5 and tried many bolt on things to give it some power. In the end, I decided that I would off load it and just go bigger next time. Funny thing is, the 2.5 with 4.10 gearing is great offroad, it'll keep up with any 4.0. They just suck on the road and highway especially. Trust me, I feel your pain. Good luck.

I have felt your pain for some time now but i have given up and in the process of bagging my 2.5 and stroking a 4.0 , sorry but i couldnt get anything to work , if you do you must market it for some big $$$$$$$$$$$$ because many of us would have loved to keep the 2.5 . kevin
