Trouble with the rear axle of a 2000 jeep wrangler.?

Question: Trouble with the rear axle of a 2000 jeep wrangler.?

(Posted by: charles on 2010-03-09 18:52:57)

I have a 2000 Jeep Wrangler, its a manual, and every time I put the clutch in to take it out of gear or shift the back feels like it swings out to the passengers side. Then when i put it back in gear it feels like it comes back to center. I have a 4 " lift on it so that might have something to do with it (lift has been on for over a year with no problems yet) My guess is there is something wrong with a control arm and the drive shaft is helping to hold the axle in place when in gear? Any help or diagnosis would be greatly appreciated.

I dont think you need help. You're already in the ballpark and your lift install is gonna have to be revisited because thats what the problem is my friend. Your rear arm is defenitely not doing its job right and you should just get under her and look at the damage cause thats your problem.

Agree. take a closer look at all your bolts and brackets. could possibly be your control arm or your trackbar. if there is something wrong with your track bar (i.e. loose or damaged bracket), the force of the shaft spinning may be shifting the axels position in one direction. does it sway the other way when in reverse? there might be some play in your trackbar. good luck.
