I have a hunch that the fuel pump is going.

Back in the days when cars had carburetors, pumping the gas pedal once or twice before starting would send gas into the manifold and make it easier to start. Most fuel injected engines should start without pressing the gas pedal, but sometimes it helps to press it halfway.

If there is too much fuel in the tank the weight of the liquid will push through the tank into your engine (aka flooding) Try keeping the level below half way point. My Cherokee did the same thing and this solved the problem! The engine was flooding over night so I'd have to push in the gas pedal and keep it revved up to about 1.25 K rpms for a few seconds when i started it up in the morning. Hope this solves your dilemma.
