My car I swear is in 24/ 7 four wheel drive! It's a 1996 jeep grand Cherokee limited.. It doesn't say it's 4X4 on the back & there's no buttons that I see to switch it out but I've looked it up and other say they have the same problem.. & I have a screen saying service four wheel drive yet my rents still don't believe it's a four wheel drive car.. Ugh I haven't seen it :( ugh it wasting my gas.. I swear I don't have a lever lk tht & I will take a pic to prove so.. Grr

Yes im 99 % sure that it is. it should say on the back 4by4. and it might have a set of buttons to switch from 2 to 4 wheel drive. but the easiest way to tell is to make turn the steering wheel all the way and drive, on dry pavment you will hear and feel the tires skiding. i dont believe jeeps have those options it all time 4. so the only way would be to take out the drive shaft, which you cant really do.

If its a 96 there probably arent any "buttons " next to the gear box there should be a shifting knob. that is how to take it in and out of 4 wheel. it should say 4all time (which is probably what yours is) then Neutral and then 4Low

I would guarantee that a Limited has 4 wheel drive.

I own a 94 grand cherokee limited 4x4 with the 5.2L V-8 and since you own a 96 limited chances are you have full time all wheel drive. on the center console you will see the gear selector and just to the left of the gear selector you will find the a second lever. it will have 4 full time, N for neutral, and 4low. you cannot turn off the 4 wheel drive. since your 96 is basically the same as the 94 then look for the "4x4 " pinstriped on each side of the rear side panels just under the windows. limited V-8's are not known for fuel economy anyways and i own one because thats what i wanted. if you have a light on and says service 4 wheel drive then take it to a shop and have the transfer case serviced. this light will not go on if there is no transfer case. BTW i get 22 highway and 14 in town with mine.
