The trail rated emblem on the side means nothing. It's just an emblem. All Jeeps are "trail rated "...

WHAT DOES IT MEAN in reality exactly?

Generally, any Jeep will go off-road except the little Compass, which doesn't have the hardware for it.

Most Jeep 4X4s are Trail Rated. Exceptions are the Compass, the SRT8 Grand Cherokee, and a few of the lesser expensive Patriot models. You don't have a Trail Rated badge because Jeep didn't start putting them on their cars until 2004. Don't feel bad. I don't have one on my '02 Grand Cherokee, either. ;)

"Trail Rated " emblems is a marketing ploy.kind of like the 4.0 High Output emblem on the Cherokee. All Cherokees with the 4.0 are high output engines.People see that and say "oooh trail rated! "
