Offroad gear shifting with a jeep.?

Question: Offroad gear shifting with a jeep.?

(Posted by: NORCAL on 2008-10-26 09:32:15)

This is my first time getting a jeep with a manual transmission. Ive always gone off- road with my other vehicles in the past and they were all automatics. But now i want to try it off road and i need some help and tips on the off road stuff with a manual transmission. 1) How should i approach a steep hill when gear shifting? 2) What should i expect going off road with stick shift? 3) There is a 2h 4L...ect. which is for what type of off road situation? 4) This doesn't have to do with stick shift but i have really stiff rancho shocks and i don't know if its a good idea to have that type of shock for going off road. its so stiff that i can feel every tiny pothole or bump on the road. Im not using i to go climb on massive rocks. Its going to be used for steep hill climbs, trails, snow, and mud. Its an 88 jeep wrangler with a 4 inch lift. Its a 4 cylinder 2.5L.
