Question: Question about rpm's on 2006 jeep wrangler rubicon?

I have had my Rubicon up to around 90 on the highway a couple of times in 6th gear. Both time the RPM gage went crazy right at 90mph and the engine just reved and RPM needle went up suddenly. Is there like a cutoff on these Rubicons. Are they not supposed to be driven that fast? Something to do with the gearing or something?

You hit the built in rev limiter, after market tuners can reset it to higher rpm but if your gear box is not up to it your wasting time.

No jeep is meant to be driven that fast. In their quest for off road prowess, suvs compromise everything that could possibly be needed for speed, except power. A high center of gravity, high un-sprung weight, soft suspensions, large, flexible, off road tires, and relatively thin sway bars. You want speed, get a Camaro. Not sure what is going on with your tach, but in just finding that problem you are risking a lot more than a repair bill.

Sounds like you need to drive that Jeep Rub back to the Dodge dealer you got it from and trade it in on a Challenger or Viper.
