How much to replace rotors on '06 jeep wrangler rubicon?

Question: How much to replace rotors on '06 jeep wrangler rubicon?

So my sister needs to get her rotors fixed and said she got quoted to fix them for $800. That seems a little ridiculous. Rotors cost about $40 a piece...so is it possible to be quoted that high? I replaced my rotors on my BMW myself for $150 and it took me about an hour to do...I looked at auto zone and each rotor costs $32. I told her she could replace them herself...but I doubt she'd want to take the chance at doing it. I also recommended that she buy the rotors and find a shop or person that would just charge her labor to do it.

IMO dodge/ chrysler brakes are about the worst on the market for warping. Im assuming the $800 is for all 4 rotors and pads? That does sound a bit steep considering they are pretty easy to do. I would check around, if the rotors are warped I would think a shop would be able to turn them down to correct the run out on them for about $150. If the pads are worn out but the rotors are still good there is no way it should cost that much. Get a second opinion. Does she have a bf/ hubby? make him get off his ass and change them for her. She could also maybe join a local jeep club in your area and ask for some help from them on how to change your own brakes. Most jeepers are pretty friendly and would be willing to help IMO.

It depends but your sister should probably check and compare with at least 2 or 3 local auto repair shops.

Rotors last for a lot longer than 4 years, even with heavy usage. Check with a few repair shops, or better yet, get a Repair Manual at an auto parts store and check them yourself...not that difficult and may save some $$
