(Posted by: Animal on 2009-08-26 18:02:05)
Well I'm not old enough yet to get a car but I'm going to start looking into them since I want to be able to study it so I know if it brakes down how to take care of it. I really like jeeps. What are some type of jeeps? I heard they can roll easy too Is that true? What would be a price you would consider for a type of jeep? Thank YOU!! |

Jeeps do not roll over any easier than any other suv out there, if they did the gov't would force a recall, that is the reason why the Liberty was lowered by 1 ". If you drive like a sensible person and remain calm in driving situations you won't have to worry about rolling. The Jeep Rubicon is about the most capable "off the lot " vehicle you can get. They are easy to work on and have lots of aftermarket and spare parts available. If you want to start learning how to work on a Jeep or any vehicle I would recommend a few books to start with. 1) Popular Mechanics Saturday Mechanic 2) The Jeep Bible (especially if you want a jeep) 3) How to Rebuild Any Automotive Engine: From Disassembly to Step-by-Step Assembly, Start-Up and Break-In 4) Chilton's Automatic Transmission Diagnosis and Repair: Auto Transmissions and Transaxles These are a couple of the "General " books that I have. Once you buy a vehicle my first stop would be an auto parts store to pick up a Hane's or Chilton's Manual specific to your vehicle. Hope this helps, another thing you can do is start hanging around a local mechanic shop, they may be willing to show you some thing when they have time. |

Jeeps don't roll easy. You have to be doing something wrong to roll one. If you can afford a 2008 Rubicon, go for it. Dana 44's and locking diffs are great. I personally like TJ's better (97-06, Rubicon available 03-06), but each to their own... |
