Question: 2005 jeep wrangler rubicon won't start.?
(Posted by: Sammy on 2009-12-18 06:31:43)
I'm supposed to be starting up my husbands jeep and letting it warm up while he's deployed and today it just wouldn't start. The automatic locks are not working, the radio and wiper- blades do not come on at all. It started fine before he left, it hasn't been started in about 2- 3 weeks. Is it the battery you think? Oh and it's also cold as shit outside, don't know if that helps. |

100 percent absolutely the battery is dead. What you do is find either a good sumeritan to jump your battery or find a jumper pack in your hubbys garage and hook up the red clamp to the positive side of the battery and the black clamp to the negative side and turn on the pack and try to start it. If it does start right away keep it running for a while and in the meantime make sure all the doors are shut and see if the last time you started it maybe you left a dome light on or something. A 4 year old battery should have a little life left but it may be defective. Now factory Jeep batterys come with a five year warranty and you should call the dealer where you got it or find the manufacturer of the battery and then find a local retailer of that brand and ask them to replace it if under warranty still. On top of the battery it will say something like 60 month or 72 month or something to that effect and thats your warranty life. Im guessing that since this is a 2005 truck its still your original factory battery. If you want to know how to change the battery get back to me and ill tell you how. First thing to do is get it in a warm garage cause it doesnt sound like anything youll be doing will be fun on this Jeep. Ill be here to answer any other issues you have during this process so just email me and ill be glad to help. |

Its Battery which is faulty, Solution Call Car helpline to provide charging up of the battery (because due to high current the normal cable will just melt and can harm you, the kind of cable reqd is Flexible Cable with right amparage) you must call the right people instead of wasting money in local cheap charger and taking life risk also. |

It could be the battery. Or not. I had a similar situation almost a year ago on my '02 Grand Cherokee. Wouldn't start. Thought it was the battery. Tried to get a jump from my neighbor. Didn't work. Bought new battery. Still didn't work. Called the service department at the dealership I work at. They said listen and try and hear the fuel pump kicking on. No noise so it was assumed it was the fuel pump. Replaced the in-tank fuel pump in my driveway. Still no start. Finally had it towed in and it turned out to be the Power Control Module (expensive repair since it's essentially the car's brain). Luckily I was still under warranty so I didn't have to pay for it. By all means, try and get a neighbor or a friend to give you a jump-start. It very well could be the battery. In any case, it's a good place to start. Good luck! |

Maintenance free batteries, you probably have one, just quit without advance warning or symtoms. Yours is 4 years old... time for a new one. Depending on how they fail, jumping the battery may not do any good. Also the new battery should be charged before installing it in the vehicle. Note: Sounds like you have the stock battery that came with the vehicle. 4 years sounds like it's life is over. Also Thank you for your service! |
