I bought a 2006 Rubi last may. I would love to take it off road, but the environment I'm in makes it tough. Will be moving in a few years to the desert/ coast and be able to do some destroying. It seems as though alot of Jeep guys try and act tough with there axle and tire size talk. This is my daily driver. I am not some retard that is gonna test the laws of physics cause i had a surge of testosterone, and destroy a 20, 000 dollar piece of machinery. R most Jeep Enthusiasts cave man? |

A lot of the guys who have the hardcore rock crawlers have the money to pay to play, and their daily driver is another rig. That said, the Rubicon is a bit of the best of both worlds. Right from the factory, it is a great daily driver, yet it has the height, tires, and a few other "bonus features " (sway bar disconnects, etc) that will make it a great off roader that some people would have to build themselves after the fact. And remember the best idea of off roading is to "Tread Softly " and not destroy your local countryside.. |

No, most of us use them to get around our daily lives, go to work, and haul the kids and groceries. It is nice to have the 4wd when im checking fence lines on the farm, but overall most Jeepers i know dont have to worry about the addons. We just sit back and dream about them. Ill keep my stocker. Good luck! |

I would not say you are unworthy of your Jeep, but you probably wasted several $1000 on a Rubicon when you could be driving and Sport or Sahara. And no destroying in my desert. There are hard a fast rules regarding where you can go in the desert. Basically you have to stay defined roads. Of course what we Jeep owners call a road, most people would call a goat trail or worse. Enjoy your Jeep!!! |

Everybody wants more Jeep than they need, you are lucky enough that yours came that way right out of the box. Don't sweat it. We aren't all cave men trying to flex with lift and one ton axles under our quarter ton machines. Some of us even drive 4bangers ;) Take real good care of that Rubi. Keep it on the road, rubber side down with fresh oil in it...then sell it to me in a couple of years :) |

No "destroying " please, it's hard enough keeping the trails open as it is. real jeepers tread lightly, using less throttle and more brains....although sometimes more gas is the only answer. some jeep owners are cavemen, but for those of us who use them as daily drivers and can't afford to drive with reckless abandon, much like you, we just want to build capable rigs. even the "cavemen, " we all share a passion for jeeps and marvel at what they are capable of with the right modifications. remember, it's not the size of the jeep, it's the skill of the driver, but sometimes it's the size....okay, maybe that didn't quite prove the point i was trying to make. bigger tires give you better clearance, in order to accommodate bigger tires you need a bigger lift. also, bigger tires put a lot of stress on the axles, so bigger axles are needed. your rubicon though, probably comes with dana 44's and lockers, so it's a pretty impressive set up as it is. eventually, you too will geek out about your jeep's specs, not too impress other jeepers (though i know many who do it for that particular reason), but to share a common bond. |
