I live in Northeast Texas and I am gonna be getting my car pretty soon, but I don't know whether I should get a Hard Top or a Soft Top. If i get a Soft Top, anybody can take things from my car. If I get a hard top, Will it be harder to take off? Please help me decide.

I agree with the other guy, except with any soft top locks are not worth it.... if someone wants to steal stuff they will, they will cut your window then you have to replace that in addition to your things getting stolen..

You can compromise and get a two or three piece hardtop depending on what year you are looking at. This would work sort of like T-tops or a Targa top where you can remove a section of the hard top without taking off the entire top. You can also get a sun roof type soft top that can be rolled back over the front part of the jeep..however, you still have the security issues to deal with. For security you can get keyed bolt in lock boxes of various sizes for the trunk/ rear, wheel humps and console if you go with the soft top. Good luck and enjoy that Wrangler! Larry

I think you will want the hard top for the winter, or if you drive on the Interstate at all. It is much, much easier to buy a Jeep with the hard top then to try to buy it later. They are kind of hard to take off, just have two friends over for dinner and "oh, by the way, would you take my top off "! ha ha! Sorry..Any way for the summer I like to just put on a bikini top. I really like shade, and it is so much fun! Or a full soft top is cheap and easy to find. A hard top is a must, so just buy a jeep with a hard top to start with! Good luck and have fun!

My Jeep Sahara Wrangler Unlimited came with the dual top option. I have both the hard top and the soft top. I've taken the hard top off for now and I'm using the soft top. I'll put the hard top back on when it starts raining again. Removing/ replacing the front panels of the hard top is very easy and can be done in 2 or 3 minutes. I store them in a bag in the back. Removing the back part requires at least two people (3 or 4 is better) or a winch to remove. The soft top has a sunrider option that let's you just fold back the front half. This just takes a few minutes to open and close. Putting the whole top down takes about 10 minutes once you know how to do it and have practiced it. Jeeps are definitely not for the push the button at the stoplight crowd.
